Paul Stewart had spent his life in the service of the Western Military Complex. He'd taken his specialties of Micro Biology and Computer Science along with his interest in modern weaponry and worked to deliver a system that could integrate command and control on an enormous scale. The ability to mesh all available sensors to absorb all information about a modern battlefield and then to seamlessly deploy the latest weapons including Particle Beam Accelerators directly from space would mean that “GAUNTLET” would be unstoppable.

At the opening of our story, the Gauntlet is secure once again in government hands but able to flex incredible power when introduced into any Theatre of War or Battle Space. Globally, nations search in vain to develop similar weapons systems and the threat of North America having unlimited power in the form of Gauntlet proves too much for some. Dr. Paul Stewart is once again thrust reluctantly into the limelight as he and fellow scientists try to prevent chaos from reigning supreme as potential foes conceive, contrive, and put into action an outlandish plot to defy the allies.

The Gauntlet Weapons system has been returned to its rightful owners in Area 51. While Gauntlet remains the world's most capable weapons system, two other highly classified projects have been in development at Area 51 involving humanoid robotics and artificial intelligence.
