Jane Monterrey Mystery

Jane CK Monterrey is an inexperienced Cincinnati private eye whose world is flipped when local millionaire George Halberran plunges to his death outside her office window. Hired by George’s eccentric mother, Vucktoria, to investigate her son’s death, Jane has no idea how messy things can get.

A prized horse is missing, and private investigator Jane "CK" Monterrey is on the case. CK hasn't had a big case in six months, when a millionaire plummeted to his death from her roof, so she certainly needs some action. Her new client is Shanel Richards, the sassy-mouthed part-owner of the J&R Ranch, who hires CK to locate Abacus Starling, an expensive race horse.

Jane "CK" Monterrey is visited by a Catholic priest, seeking her help in his sibling’s murder. Reluctant at first, she feels pity for the priest who believes it is a catholic cover up. The next day, the priest is struck by a car downtown. Jane becomes involved whether she likes it or not. Gene Mahoney, now superstar of the local theater, is busy in his own pursuits of play writing. Things begin to sizzle with her boyfriend, Officer Brad Hyatt, but their chance for alone time is cut short when Jane’s grandpa moves in with her.

Buried in grief, Jane "CK" Monterrey holds vigil over her comatose fiancé Brad Hyatt. Jane’s mom is holding down the fort at the office and picks up a case. A penguin is stolen from the zoo. Eventually, Grandpa George brings Jane out of her funk. But just as everything starts to become routine, JC decides to taunt her. She whole heartedly believes he is the reason for Brad’s condition, but proof is lacking, making it all the more frustrating.

Rejoining the private eye business after taking a step back to be a mother, Jane Monterrey finds herself thrust into a complicated mix of cases. Timothy Dawson, suspected of having affair, is arrested by the FBI during her stakeout. Suspicion brews as the wife gets angry about Jane’s results. While sorting that out, a case involving a beer recipe comes to the door. Soon Jane is following a scavenger hunt of clues with a reporter tagging along, avoiding a shady lawyer intent upon finding the same brew. Add to the mix a missing goat, and Jane definitely has a full plate.
