Breaking the Rules

Graduating from college is supposed to come with a promise of excitement and limitless possibilities. But for unemployed Rebecca Stanton, the highlight of her day is sitting in her parents' home with a pint of Chunky Monkey while watching The Bachelor. Desperate for change and inspired by a late-night commercial, she stumbles onto a job opportunity with a new cruise line, packs her bags, and sets sail toward her new destiny.

Sam Stanton knows these simple facts: He is a great catch - successful, smart, gorgeous...but the wrong woman caught him. He has the perfect girl who is madly in love with him. He wasted six years of his life by playing it safe. He is damn good at his job and intends to keep climbing the ladder. He can't get her off his mind or out of his heart - no matter how hard he tries. Will he ever really move on and forget how badly she broke his heart?

I’ve always been known as the hopeless romantic...the nice guy...the sweetheart. Everything in my life supported this persona. My students loved my easy personality. My colleagues admired the way I handled myself in the classroom. But something was always missing. Like so many relationships before it, my current attempt at love felt like a dead end. When she gave me an ultimatum, I couldn’t promise to give her what she wanted. So, she ended it.

Helping people is what I do best. I’ve made a career around it and dedicated my adult life to it. So, when my two best friends decided to start a family but weren’t able to conceive, it made total sense for me to become their surrogate. Once I pleaded my case, and they finally agreed, I moved from New Jersey to Florida, excited for a much-needed change. But no one could’ve predicted crossing paths with the love of my life, the one who’d left years earlier, the one man I never got over.
