Letters From Rebecca is a play for two actors reading selected letters from a 12 year correspondence between Rebecca Bruns, a New Orleans writer, and Michael Corrigan from San Francisco. The letters were written before email and the Internet exploded, and concern love, art, writing, travel, and relationships. The letters take a dark turn when Rebecca is diagnosed with cancer. The play opened in Ketchum, Idaho and was subsequently broadcast by NPR Playhouse. Rebecca was a dear friend and a wonderful writer. This play is meant to celebrate Rebecca's memory and give her a voice, once more, through her eloquent yet earthy letters.

Shaffer returned home at five, just as it was getting dark. He had to put down his bags to unlock the front door, and picked them up again feeling annoyed that he had set so much homework for his pupils; after all, he was going to have to mark it all.

When I heard the knock at the door on that Friday afternoon in early December I was in my workshop at the back of the house. I was carving some panels that were to form the backs of a set of chairs and the last thing I wanted was an interruption.
