Although most of humanity is unaware of it, the world always has a way of protecting itself from the forces of darkness. The essences of fire, wind, water, electricity, earth, and spirit are willing to fight against evil, although they must enter human hosts to do so. These people, called the Destined, arise roughly every 700 years to fight against oppression. And now the powers have chosen six hosts to protect the world: five teenagers and one teacher.

They infiltrate a secret underground base and are confronted by a small army of sentrybots. Bizwat lends Aoléon and Gilbert some of his advanced combat skills via a psionic brain dump.

Aoléon, Gilbert, and Zoot escape with the help of Bizwat and his newfound friend, Helios, a first-generation soldierbot. After their saucer is destroyed, they crash land somewhere in the deep Martian desert. They set out to locate Kyrios and the secret base where Aoléon's parents are being held captive.

Spying on the Luminon, Aoléon and Gilbert uncover his plot to steal Earth's milk cows. They make the disturbing discovery that the Martian leader plans to disrupt Mars' galact supply. Hoping to reach the galactworks before the Luminon's saboteur, the duo races to warn Aoléon's father, Deimos, manager at the galactworks, that he is in danger.

Aoleon and Gilbert are entrusted with a mission from PAX, a wanted criminal and leader of the Martian resistance movement. He wants them to investigate the Luminon of Mars, who he suspects is planning an invasion of Earth to steal its milk cows. Gilbert has an encounter with the Luminess (the mate of the Luminon) and discovers something strange about her. The undercover duo is chased by the Royal Paladin Guard.

Crop circles magically appear in Farmer Johnson's field. A mysterious light sweeps over the night sky and awakens Farmer Johnson and Gilbert, the boy next door. Curious, Gilbert ventures out to discover the source of the light and stumbles into a beautiful Martian girl sitting in a crop circle. Farmer Johnson also investigates the strange light, and thinking that Gilbert and Aoléon are vandals, he chases them.

Jack Warren is back, and this time he is chasing a predator that stalks the streets of downtown Toronto. The vicious killer preys upon sex workers and leaves a bloody swath of carnage in his wake.
