For John Freeman - literary critic, essayist, editor, poet and 'one of the preeminent book people of our time' (Dave Eggers) - it is a rare moment when words are not enough. My novel imagines a world that grapples with the systematic, natural loss of every man of majority European descent and presents one possible version of that scenario’s aftermath.
