Učenec ze studených krajů se odstěhuje do země, kde je pořád horko. Vůbec si na to nemůže zvyknout, a proto přes den zůstává doma a ven vychází jen večer. Po západu slunce městečko a jeho obyvatelé ožívají a je na co se dívat! Hrdinovu zvědavost však nejvíc dráždí protější dům. Druhý má koně jen jednoho, zato ale vyniká vychytralostí. Když mezi nimi jednoho dne dojde ke sporu, zabije Mikula jediného sousedova koně. Mikulka pak musí využít veškerý svůj důvtip, aby znovu získal nějaký majetek. Který z hrdinů vyjde z příběhu jako vítěz?
