Based on the format of the American TV show Saturday Night Live, this home-grown comedy production was an enormous success and bought recognition and fame to a great many performers, many of whom are now household names.

We created this audiobook with the goal of providing a set of very simple and clear instructions on how to write and create standup comedy material, where to seek out performance opportunities, and how to perform your standup comedy material on stage for a live comedy audience.

Recorded at the Centaur Theatre at Just For Laughs in July 1991, Bill Hicks’ Relentless: Live In Montreal was his international breakout performance. It led to two sold-out tours in the UK over the next two years, culminating in the recording of Revelations in London in November 1992. Bill’s insights that night into religion, pornography, drugs, war, news, rock stars, and smoking are now available for you listening pleasure.

Hosted by a rotating cast of seasoned comics, each episode covers a different American pastime, region, city, characteristic, or zeitgeist. The show opens with a host introduction, followed by a sound collage that features stand-up comedy, funny interviews with special guests and folks on the street, and even local music. It’s a hilarious (and sometimes touching) tribute to our complicated country.
