تعرض رواية "القط الذي علمني الطيران" لهاشم غرايبة مجتمع السجن من خلال تجربة ذاتية للمؤلف، ولكنّه في ذلك أنشأ عالما أقرب إلى الحياة والواقع لدرجة الالتباس والدمج بين الحياة والسجن.. يُعتقل عماد طالب الجامعة الشيوعي الذي يدرس الصحافة بجامعة اليرموك العام 1977 ويسعفه الحظ بوجود قريب له في السجن الذي يساعده في التأقلم وفي تدبير أموره.

رواية تَحليها خمسةُ أصوات مختلفة . هذه الرواية تنشر لأول مرّة هنا في هذا الموقع ، وتجرى وقائعها في فلسطين في الفترة التي تلت إبرام اتّفاق أُوسلو ، مع عودة صاحب كلّ صوت إلى الجذور التي نبت عليها موقفه وسلوكه إزا الاتّفاق وما افترق به أو نجم منه . إنها ، إذاً ، رواية مادّتها الأساسيّة هي السياسة التي نوّعت مصائر الفلسطينيين مثلما نوّعت أصواتهم.

إنّها الحرب إذن، اجتاح السوفييت العاصمة برلين فاختارت صحفيةٌ ألمانية توثيق الأحداث بدلًا من الاستسلام لها فتبدأ بكتابة مذكراتها بشكلٍ سريّ ابتداءً من دخول السوفييت وقصفهم المدينة ثمَّ هروب النّاس إلى الملاجيْ والجوع الشديد الذي أصابهم هناك.

لجأ اسماعيل إلى الأردن بعد نكبة فلسطين ولكنّه على عكس العديد من اللاجئين استطاع أن يبني نفسه من جديد؛ فقد اشترى ستين دونمًا شرقيّ نهر الأردن مقابل بطاقة الإعاشة الخاصّة به وبأسرته، وعمل على زراعتها والاستقرار فيها آملًا أن يعود إلى العباسية يومًا ما وبالتالي تُضاف هذه البيّارة إلى أملاكه هناك.
