Tag lives a peaceful life with his family, working their homestead away from the bustle of the nearby city, and trying to forget the war from twenty years before. But trouble rises as Kuran, a ruthless general and conqueror from the nation of Thrall arrives with an army at his back. In a split-second decision, Tag plunges his family into great danger, and is forced to take them on the run

This paranormal short story follows Lischca Fonteneau, who takes an internship at the antiquities museum of the city she had finally settled in. She feels that she has finally ceased her lifelong wanderings. Her boss, Kimoura Kaga, seemed hauntingly familiar to her and she couldn't place exactly why. Lischca believes she is finally rid of the curse that had hounded her since the day she became an adult. But the powers that be had other plans for her.

Tag marches the gathered forces of the Brotherhood of the Scythe on a dangerous mission. They intend to secretly pass through the land of Vulca and infiltrate the Citadel of Thrall, ruining its supplies of food and water, while cutting off all aid from outside. He believes Kuran has taken his forces far away from the Citadel on a futile hunt for the Resistance. But instead, Tag is heading into a trap. Kuran has gathered his entire army, which vastly outnumbers the Brotherhood of the Scythe, and lays in wait along their path through Vulca.

War tears the world apart. Tag and the band of resistance fighters travel to the city of Trace Vale, which is threatened by Thrall’s occupation under a ruthless Commander. But there is another trouble: an unseen assailant prowls the streets at night killing Thrall soldiers, putting them on high alert. Captain Uval of Thrall, disobeying a direct order, also heads to Trace Vale, unaware that Tag and his companions have arrived there. He is obsessed with finding the boy, and exacting revenge.

Kala may have a talent for killing, but it won’t help her escape what she fears most. As the only contact between the isolated communities of her world, mysterious airships demand a youth in exchange for the goods that each community so desperately needs to survive. If you have to send someone away, you choose a misfit, and Kala has always been at the top of the list.

In chapters 56-69A, Kuran gains more and more power for himself and increases the size of his army. Tag and the other members of the resistance begin to liberate conquered towns and cities. In doing so, they start to add numbers to their forces in an attempt to prepare for the coming war. Meanwhile, Willow, Shalah, and the twins - Brass and Brandt - scheme with the island natives of Gahkul to overthrow the forces of Thrall along with the deadly firemancers occupying Shalah’s former homeland.

The series draws to an explosive conclusion as Kala’s allies clash with Soren’s army, straining bonds and testing friendships.The real enemy, the shadowy Church, led by the cunning Priestess, continues to orchestrate the apocalypse, wielding a formidable arsenal of long-forgotten weapons and the support of the Ancients themselves.

Kala’s world is set aflame by Soren, a self-declared child of the winds, who was ripped from his family and sent in an airship to the harsh northern steppes. To assuage his anger, Soren has raised an army to destroy the world and every airship in it.

Tag and his family have resolved to enter the fight against Kuran's seemingly unstoppable hordes. What's more, he sees an opportunity to gain powerful new allies - but they are disparate factions who strongly distrust all but their own kinds. Complicating matters, one of Tag's sons has been gravely wounded and requires a powerful healer.
