A Journey to the Centre of the Earth is a classic 1864 science fiction novel written by Jules Verne. The main character is Professor Von Hardwigg who believes there are volcanic tubes going toward the center of the Earth. Professor Von Hardwigg, his nephew Axel, and their guide Hans encounter many adventures, including prehistoric animals and natural hazards, eventually coming to the surface again in southern Italy.

La aventura comienza cuando el geólogo alemán Otto Lidenbrock descubre un manuscrito escrito por Arne Saknussem, donde describe un pasaje al centro de la tierra ingresando por un volcán en Islandia. Otto organiza una expedición en compañía de su sobrino Axel y un guía para ingresar al volcán hacia el interior del globo terráqueo, donde descubren un asombroso mundo subterráneo del cual no saben si van a regresar.
