Between October 2014 and November 2016, global terrorism expert Jessica Stern held a series of conversations in a prison cell in The Hague with Radovan Karadzic, a Bosnian Serb former politician who had been indicted for genocide and other war crimes during the Bosnian War. It is easy to be depressed if you live in a neighborhood that has few supportive resources available or is marred by gun violence. We are able to diagnose people with depression, but how does one heal a neighborhood? This City Is Killing Me brings policy and psychology together. Through case studies, Jonathan Foiles opens up his therapy door to allow us to overhear the stories of individual poor Chicagoans. Through statistics and the example of Chicago, he teaches us how policy decisions have contributed to these individuals’ suffering.

Growing up I experienced a ton of traumas and trials. Foster care & family court issues, Abuse, and Homelessness, Neglect & Abandonment, Addiction, and even prison and legal issues. Now I am a mom, wife, student, and woman trying to build a better life for me and my family. I am moving to use my story as a lesson and use my pain for a purpose. Join us as we talk about everything life. The good, the bad, and the beautiful. No topic is off limits, and the goal here is to help bring healing and change. I will be having different guests join us on this adventure. We hope you join us too!
