If ever a whole town could be haunted, Devil's Moon, Kentucky would be that town. Ripley Van Raden, or Rip as her friends call her, has come back to her hometown to start her own ghost tour business. That's not her only career path, though. Librarian by day and ghost tour guide by night, Rip is ready to take on the ghosts following her around and the mysterious residents who show up for more than the tour in the Devil's Moon Cemetery.

The dead want Ripley Van Raden’s attention. Two of Ripley Van Raden’s favorite things are books and ghosts. Not necessarily in that particular order. Rip, as her friends call her, guides people on a haunted tour through her hometown of Devil's Moon, Kentucky. Ripley is also a librarian by day. That’s where the books come in. Of course it’s no surprise that the library is haunted too. The ghost of the first librarian roams the stacks of Bilson Library, sending Ripley text messages and emails. That’s the only way the ghost knows how to communicate.

The chill of a San Francisco summer can be deadly. No one knows this better than Capri Sanzio, who makes her living giving serial killer tours of the city. Capri has been interested in the topic since she was a kid, when she discovered she’s the granddaughter of serial killer William "Overkill Bill" Sanzio. She’s always believed in his innocence. But now an Overkill Bill copycat has struck in San Francisco. And Capri’s former mother-in-law, Sylvia, just cut off Capri’s daughter’s tuition payments. Needing cash, Capri wonders if this is the time to exonerate her grandfather.
