I appreciate I am a fortunate person. I love to travel and equally adore writing poems. Happily, I am able to combine the two in many of my poetry collections. I sought to look beyond only the beauty of the lakes to explore the arts and heritage upon which the greatness of the county is built. Here we have the stories of people. Both tales of famous Cumbrians or those whose exploits focused the attention of the world on the region; and then sitting alongside are poems telling of ordinary people getting to have their story shared for the first time.

The only way to awaken all the dormant magic within is to feel grateful that we have already unlocked it. I adore this apparent paradox - Dean Fraser. Living at peace with all that makes you…well, you! This is home…simply takes a change in point of view. Being happy in your skin, everywhere feels like home. Constantly at home wherever you choose to roam. I see them. Seeking a bluer sky. Those streets seemingly paved with gold. A charmed life looked at from a distance. What about me? I am grateful to waken this morning.

Inspired and written about places I came to know while living in Cheshire for some fifteen years or on my trips back to visit the County. A walk around Chester Walls experiencing echoes of the past, exploring the leafy countryside, a cricket match in Prestbury and a night spent at the Edge in Alderley, finding seclusion amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life, a visit to Tatton one summer’s day, and poetic homages to the rich industrial history and natural beauty of Cheshire. Poetic stories of people above all else.
