There is something about the number 3. The Ancient Greeks believed 3 was the perfect number, and in China 3 has always been a lucky number, and they know a thing or two. Whatever history and culture says WE think 3, a hat-trick of stories, is a great number to explore themes and literary avenues that classic authors were so adept at creating.

This is a collection of bad poems, short stories, rushed parables, and hastily-written diatribes written over the last 4 years. Shut in my home due to the government’s tyrannical response to COVID, I did a lot of reading, thinking, and reflection. During this time, I came to admit to myself a lot of dismal truths about the “true” state of humanity, especially when it is pushed to the limits by fear and doubt. In such cases, Man becomes savage and focuses on the differences in his fellow men; he leans into his raw savageness to bifurcate and destroy. He is primal. He is reckless.

The Hospital Ship is no more, and Yang Wei awakens to find himself at the mercy of monstrous doctors and the tumult of his own mind. Not helping matters, of course, is the Mars Hospital’s Pool of Dead Souls. A ghastly body of water, it traps people in an endless cycle of treatment, death, and resurrection. When an unruly band of patients revolts against this suffering, the Hospital descends into chaos, the likes of which have never been seen before.

Spring comes in like a lamb as the exclusive Pacific Heights Moms & Tots Club welcomes its newest members. But that tranquility belies a storm brewing as new tensions and old rivalries come to a head. The surviving moms are ready to reap the rewards of membership, but none of them counted on club founder, Bettina Connaught Cross, needing a pick-me-up from a bitter betrayal. While lesser women might cry into their pillows, Bettina finds comfort in exerting control over her domain.
