Arlo Dilly is young, handsome, and eager to meet the right girl. He also happens to be DeafBlind, a Jehovah’s Witness, and under the strict guardianship of his controlling uncle. His chances of finding someone to love seem slim to none. And yet, it happened once before: Many years ago, at a boarding school for the Deaf, Arlo met the love of his life—a mysterious girl with onyx eyes and beautifully expressive hands which told him the most amazing stories. I’ve spent my whole life seeing monsters, but they could never see me back...until now. Turns out, I’m not crazy like I’ve spent my whole life believing. Too bad it took being locked in a cage and tortured almost to the point of insanity to realize that. But I’m not alone. In a cage to my left, there’s a monster who’s given up hope. He stays in the shadows and moves with chains wrapped around him, but his golden eyes watch. To my right, there’s a girl with purple wings and familiar gray eyes.

Death's grip is strong, but my will is stronger. Revelations, loss, and chaos loom. But like always, I'm not about to let any of that keep me down. I'm a woman of action who believes in solutions, except the losses that challenge me now may not have quick fixes. I'll have to give up more to regain what is lost. Make new promises to keep the people I love. And when it's all said and done, even that may not be enough. The storm that's been brewing is hurtling toward us, and this time I'm not sure there is a tether that can keep us grounded.
