Dr. Dean Graves, M.E. is asked to help the Atlanta Health Department investigate a respiratory illness that’s infecting—and killing—mostly young, healthy individuals. The victims of the deadly disease seem to be random, with no traceable source for the exposure. As the illness with a 100% mortality rate spreads across Georgia, including Augusta where Dr. Graves lives and works, he starts to question whether this could be an act of bioterrorism.

In Tokyo, Angelica Navarro, a Filipina nurse who has been working in Japan for the last five years, is the caretaker for Sayoko Itou, an intensely private woman about to turn 100 years old. Angelica is a dedicated nurse, working night and day to keep her paperwork in order, obey the strict labor laws for foreign nationals, study for her ongoing proficiency exams, and most of all keep her demanding client happy.

As normal as things always seemed, there were always things going on behind the scenes that no one knew about. Countries were at odds. People were always fighting over territory, oil, money, food. Finally, one country had enough of the bullshit and created a killer cold. You wake up early after returning home from your out of country work meeting and you’re ready to start your first day back in your own city, but you’re feeling kind of out of sorts. You shower, blow your nose, cough, and spit out that nasty mucus and then, you head to work.
