New York - 1948. Nachdem die kaltschnäuzige Hexenreporterin Moira Bran von ihrer Zeitung gefeuert wird, sitzt sie als Lebendfutter für Vampire in einem illegalen Bluthaus fest. Unerwartete Hilfe bekommt sie von Sova Skorpin, einer Dämonin, die Träume stiehlt und als Droge auf dem Schwarzmarkt verkauft. Sie befreit Moira aus dem Bluthaus – allerdings nicht aus Nächstenliebe. Für den Dämonenclan soll Moira vermisste Traumjäger aufspüren, die mutmaßlich entführt wurden.
