The murder of a media moghul in his country mansion appears to be the result of him disturbing a gang of would-be thieves. The robbers are swiftly caught, but when they are unexpectedly moved to a different prison they escape. Back in Edinburgh, a young solicitor reveals to the press that one of the subjects had left a letter with her some time before the break-in which proves his innocence.

Al final de su descenso, encuentra un valle, aislado del resto del mundo por empinados precipicios. Nuñez descubre así el mítico "País de los Ciegos". El valle había sido refugio de colonos que huían de la tiranía de gobernantes. La comunidad aislada prosperó con los años, a pesar de una enfermedad que les golpeó e hizo que los bebés nacieran ciegos.

Up until a year ago his chief sport was mountaineering. His last climb was an attempt to climb the remote and forbidding peak of Parascotopetl, the 20,000-foot crag unconquered by man. It is unconquered still. 3,000 feet from the icy summit his party turned back and fled for their lives all escaping except for one, a guide named Nunez who slipped and fell over the precipice disappearing in to the vast chasm.
