A missionary woman has disappeared in Spitalfields, one of London's most dangerous districts. It was all set in a few days when one of my workers ratted me out. The cops surrounded my place and I was cornered. I thought about putting up a fight but there was only one of me and more cops than I cared to count. I was about turn myself in when a warning alert blasted from the radio that a tornado was coming.

Imagine a slight change to our historical timeline where the Industrial Revolution heated up much quicker than expected. Technological marvels such as airships, trains, battleships, and submarines came into being much earlier. They were followed by steam-powered wonders such as mechanical men, flying ships, and even crafts capable of reaching the deepest fathoms of the sea or traveling to distant celestial orbs. That is the world where Sherlock Holmes and his Boswell, Dr. Watson find themselves in Sherlock Holmes: Adventures in the Realms of Steampunk.

Der Erfinder Coolbros bittet Sherlock Holmes um Beistand, da auf ihn schon zwei Mordanschläge verübt wurden. Er vermutet seine wirtschaftsschädliche Erfindung als Ursache der Feindlichkeit. Der Fall scheint Holmes interessant genug, um sich seiner anzunehmen. Dr. Watson ist ihm natürlich wie immer behilflich.

Auf einem besiedelten Exoplaneten mehren sich Gerüchte, dass ein dort gefundenes Stein-Monument ein Dimensionstor gewesen sein könnte. Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson werden dorthin gesandt, um den Gerüchten auf den Grund zu gehen. Sie machen die Bekanntschaft merkwürdiger Bürger und blökender Elektro-Schafe.

Ein Inspektor weilt an Bord der Ultimo-1, da er Daflon, der ein Freund von Sherlock Holmes geworden ist, eines gefährlichen Experiments verdächtigt. Bei einem Ausflug auf einen Exoplaneten geschieht noch dazu ein Mord. Holmes und Dr. Watson machen sich bei der Lösung nützlich, während der Inspektor weiter hinter Daflon her ist.

Knapp vor Abreise nimmt Sherlock Holmes den Suchauftrag eines jungen Mannes an, dessen Großonkel im All verschollen ist. Es wäre nicht Holmes, wenn er bei der Suche nach dem Verschollenen nicht auch noch einen Mordfall aufklären könnte. Dr. Watson nutzt die Gelegenheit, um sich etwas Ruhm zu verschaffen.

Der degradierte Major Ironside überlebt als Einziger eine Strafmission. Sherlock Holmes und Dr. Watson sollen mithelfen herauszufinden, ob er Schuld am Tod seiner Kameraden trägt. Alles scheint dafür zu sprechen und eine neuerliche Landung am Unglücksort bringt eine ungeheuerliche Entdeckung.

Dieses Mal wird Sherlock Holmes von der Union dafür eingesetzt, einen Saboteur auf Alpha Mensae b aufzuspüren. Den dort angesiedelten Menschen wurde nämlich die elektrische Energie geraubt, was sie naturgemäß wütend macht. Mit der Hilfe von Dr. Watson kann der Meisterdetektiv den Schuldigen rasch ermitteln.
