We talk about the weather a lot. It exasperates, confounds, and on occasion delights us. Our national conversation is dominated by the weather, but how much do we really know about it? The discovery of quantum mechanics has paved the way to just about every important innovation in the last half century: it has led us to the technology that powers microwaves, iPhones, and self-driving cars and is about to trigger a computing revolution that will either spell the end of the human species or propel us to heights we've never imagined. But there's another reason that quantum mechanics is so important: it is really the only way we can understand ourselves and each other.

There are many things regarding the science of this world that are as yet undiscovered. Perhaps, the most important is the mystery that is gravity and its relationship to living beings. To date, we do not know the full origin of gravity, how we organize within gravity, and how we interact with it on a mature and immature level. These unknowns are the primary cause for concern when discussing the future reality that is space travel and interplanetary colonization.
