Alberts Mutter ist in ihr neues Haus eingezogen und sorgt für mächtig Wirbel. Mariekes Familie hat mit Pflegekind Djamila Zuwachs bekommen und bei den Winters gibt es ebenfalls aufregende Neuigkeiten. Da bleibt kaum Zeit für den neuen Fall: In Alberts Haus entdecken die Strandspürnasen nämlich einen Geheimgang. Gleichzeitig sucht die Polizei erfolglos nach der verschwundenen Beute eines Juwelenraubs.

In Strandvoort ist wieder einiges los: Albert zieht um und Henk Vermeulen, der grummelige Gemischtwarenhändler gerät erst in eine Schlägerei in seinem Laden und verschwindet dann spurlos. Kurz darauf erreicht die Strandspürnasen ein mysteriöser Hilferuf und Herr Vermeulens Schwester bittet die jungen Detektive um Hilfe bei der Suche nach ihrem Bruder. Wie soll Nick denn da sein Schulprojekt über ein Vorbild schreiben? Zum Glück hilft seine Familie ihm mit einem Film über die Surferin Bethany Hamilton und einem Besuch im Corrie-ten-Boom-Haus in Haarlem.
