This is my inspirational true story of childhood sexual abuse that I endured. The abuse was a secret, even to me, due to the fact that all the painful images were locked up in my subconscious for close to 37 years.

For 18 years of my life, I dealt with harm daily. I suffered over 40 years with a substantial assortment of trauma-related manifestations. The devastation of the problems began when I was a child and lasted until I was in my mid-40s. I know my story sounds bleak but don’t be discouraged. Peace, laughter, joy, and happiness eventually came my way.

First responders are the action heroes of our time. And if you’re a first responder (or know someone who is), you know this to be true: instead of running from imminent danger, firefighters run into burning buildings . . . police officers chase active shooters . . . and EMT’s rush to provide life-saving medical support, no matter how gruesome the crime scene.
