In this moving account, Peter Korn explores the nature and rewards of creative practice. We follow his search for meaning as an Ivy-educated child of the middle class who finds employment as a novice carpenter on Nantucket, transitions to self-employment as a designer and maker of fine furniture, takes a turn at teaching and administration at Colorado's Anderson Ranch Arts Center, and then founds a school in Maine: the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, an internationally respected nonprofit institution.

I have to preface this memoir of mine by telling you that the ONLY reason that I wrote it is because I just couldn't let this amazing story of mine simply fade away and go to my grave with me. It was way too good for that! I mean I'd lay in my bed here in Thailand and think about all of the unbelievable things that had occurred during this journey of mine, and that if I didn't share it with mankind, well, it just wouldn't be right, what can I say, so I took this thing on, and it ended up being the best decision of my life.

This second half—or part two—of my memoir picks up exactly where part one leaves off. It takes place from 2000 to 2022, and details the struggles that I had and still have here in Thailand with substance abuse—including becoming a full fledged meth addict in addition to my alcoholism, which had been under control from 1985 until 2000 when I started drinking again in a go-go bar in Bangkok one night when free shots of tequila were being passed around.
