Jack and the Giant Killers must save their beloved mentor, Abel, and round up the elements that the cruel giant, Gorgo, requires to open the terrible Hateful Gate. Failure would mean victory for Gorgo and his equally horrid family, who are more determined than ever in their relentless march to absolute power in Ooom. Jack and his young comrades are faced with countless perils as they transport a feisty talking hen to safety in the mystic northern kingdom of Glacial. By the time the novel concludes, the stage will be set for what promises to be an epic final battle for Ooom.
