There is a magical world called Fauna where animals and humans live as equals. Unfortunately, Fauna has been invaded by an evil sorceress. She has killed the Animal King and Queen and plans on enslaving all animals. Luckily, the new animal king has been brought out of hiding from Earth. In this story, the young Animal King must learn to use his magical powers to defeat this evil invader.

Dinella Dolittle, genannt Diddy, ist zwar vermutlich eine Nachfahrin des berühmten Doktor Dolittle. Aber die Sprache der Tiere beherrscht sie deshalb noch lange nicht. Bis plötzlich ein Eichhörnchen vor ihrem Fenster sitzt und ihr mit Pfote, Nase, Ohren und Schwanz allerhand Zeichen gibt. Da merkt Diddy, dass sie sehr wohl versteht, was das kleine Tier sagen will. Schon bald nimmt Eichhörnchen Paulchen sie mit zur wundersamen Villa Fauna, wo Diddys Onkel December Dolittle abgeschieden lebt und Tiere aller Art behandelt.

Life takes unusual turns for a nomadic family and their animals, including a young pup born far away in the African desert. Due to sudden, strange events at their kraal, he is adopted by a free-range farmer to herd cattle in Molodi Valley. The pup, whose Faunalang name is Flame, faces many a challenge to prove himself to more than one of his new family.
