I'll admit it! I knew squat about video games, leveling up, and strategies to max out my character's skills. What I did know, however, was how to solve crimes!

Garth had been the favorite for the number-one draft pick in the next season of the USA's top sport. His college career was supposed to end on a high note… but it didn't. Sabotaged in his final game, he found himself shut out of the Dungeon League of America, forced to retire his jersey in shame. With no other options, he leaned on his university degree and became a licensed psychiatrist and therapist. That should have been the end of his dungeon-crawling days. But then, a new dungeon appeared in his city.

After surviving a harsh winter, Eli finds himself in a unique situation when a long-lost dungeon is discovered on the property. It could be the perfect proving ground for the students who have earned their Class, but it could also become their tomb. It also doesn't help that the town of Last Stop is in danger. The Edgelands are creeping in and gobbling up entire cities overnight. Charlie Mason (a.k.a. Mace) is a former detective of major crimes who is forced to retire. His former captain offers him a job as an in-game constable for the hottest virtual reality game around, Immersion Online. This down-and-out detective knows nothing of character creation, leveling up, or magical artifacts. He is a noob. He spawns in the Wilderbrook - a group of human and humanoid villages hundreds of miles from the nearest city - to learn the ins and outs of the game before he assumes his role as a constable in Grandview, one of the largest cities in The Great Realm.

Mace is back in the third deadly installment of Immersion online, and he is hot on the trail of a serial killer who is stalking his victims in the city of Grandview. Soon, identical murders take place in his hometown. Is there a copycat killer, or are the killers one in the same? Mace and his counterpart in the real world, Detective Donna Driver, search both on and offline for clues that will lead them to the serial killer. Will they be on time to stop him before he strikes again? Will Mace pay the ultimate price?

What the streets don’t realize is that Mace can take a punch and doesn’t mind punching back. In fact, he prefers it that way! Along with Havervill, his irascible (but charming) virtual assistant; Tinsie, his sassy deputy; and Buddy his stoic golem, Mace will investigate several murders, the theft of a relic of mass destruction, and the kidnapping of the most famous woman in the game.

With his allies finally gathered and the army assembled, Mace is ready to face the demon lord Altirax once and for all. But not all is as it appears. Someone has been tampering with the coding of the game since Mace first joined and the final battle will finally reveal the culprit and their intention.

Apropos is a rogue, a rascal, a scoundrel, a cheat...and those are his good points. Lame of leg but fast of wit, the only reason Apropos doesn't consider chivalry dead is because he's not yet through with it. An orphan with a chip on his shoulder, Apropos, travels to the court of the good King Runcible, with three goals in mind: to find his father, seek retribution for the death of his mother, and to line his own pockets.
