Born and raised in Bundoran, with the waves of the west coast of Ireland breaking at his doorstep, Richie Fitzgerald was moulded by his environment—from his initiation to surfing at the age of 9 in the cold Atlantic water to becoming Ireland’s first ever pro surfer and competing on a global scale. But learning to surf in 1980s Ireland wasn’t without its challenges. With little to no equipment, Richie duct-taped Marigolds over woollen gloves to protect his hands from the freezing water and even melted Christening candles to pour on his board in place of surf wax.

One or the other of you surely remembers the school breaks back then on the playground in the elementary school at the thought of jumping rope. And surely you are smiling about it now. It was a pastime as a kid, it was fun, and it was literally child's play. Is it still that way today? Who would have thought that "rope skipping" would become a recognized sport in which even international competitions are now held. What has spilled over from abroad to Europe as a trend is also gaining enthusiasm on our doorstep in all age groups and sports groups.

This is the true story of how organized baseball started, how gambling shaped the game from its earliest days, and how it became our national pastime and our national mirror. Baseball in the Garden of Eden draws on original research to tell how the game evolved from other bat-and-ball games and gradually supplanted them, how the New York game came to dominate other variants, and how gambling and secret professionalism promoted and plagued the game.

Chana Cox was a brilliant woman who lived a remarkable and incredibly full life until her passing in March 2019 at 77 years old. Lo que se ha extendido del extranjero a Europa como una tendencia, también está conquistando el entusiasmo a nuestras puertas en todos los grupos de edad y grupos deportivos.

Es war als Kind ein Zeitvertreib, hat Spaß gemacht und war im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes ein Kinderspiel. Ist es das heute immer noch?
