L'assertivité qui consiste en une juste affirmation de soi entre la passivité - non affirmation - et l'agressivité - affirmation qui manque son objectif - n'est pas une attitude innée ni facile à tenir. Elle suppose de prendre conscience des différents pièges où l'émotion, et la peur de l'autre nous entraînent à faire un double tonneau dans le virage de la relation.

Pour agir et décider, nous mobilisons des croyances et du savoir. Dans ce jeu où se glisse parfois la discrimination, des drames humains, le racisme, etc. un acteur silencieux s'entend à contrôler nos pensées et influencer nos actes. Cet acteur, c'est le stéréotype. En une lumineuse suite de vidéos, Patrick Scharnitzky nous montre que s'il est impossible de ne pas avoir de stéréotypes, il convient de les expliciter et d'en prendre conscience pour ne pas leur donner le contrôle de nos vies.
