Here is the second volume of my quest to write a flash fiction story a day in 2016. Contained within are the twenty-nine stories I wrote in February. Volume one received high praise from readers and some of my fellow authors. I hope Volume two continues to deliver.

After the extinction asteroid does not strike Earth, the dinosaurs keep evolving - but so do the mammals. We mammals have achieved humanlike shapes, but now it's cold-blooded, magic-using reptiles against the hot-blooded, hot-tempered descendants of cats. This is the first story collection ever from best-selling fantasy and science-fiction writer L. E. Modesitt, Jr. Modesitt began publishing short fiction in the SF magazines in the 1970s, and this collection includes a selection of stories from the whole of his career. Some of the early stories are kernels for his early SF novels, others display the wide range of his talents and interests, from satire to military adventure.

I am Althorn the Crow, knower of all things to know, and I have a tough job. I am tasked with carrying the souls of the dead to their rightful place in the afterlife. I have encountered some pretty strange things during my journeys, but none as bizarre as the deaths you are about to hear. These are just some of the encounters during a normal day in my life.
