Auch im zweiten Teil der Blackbird-Serie ist Sunny vor ihren Verfolgern noch nicht sicher. Nach dem schockierenden Verrat Bens schlägt sie sich nach New York durch, in der Hoffnung sich dort mit weiteren Verfolgten verbünden zu können. Und dann ist da noch das Versprechen von Rafe, dem Jungen aus ihren Träumen, der sie liebt und ihre wahre Identität zu kennen scheint. Doch in New York ist Sunny ebenso wenig sicher und das tödliche Spiel nimmt weiter seinen Lauf und dann taucht auch noch Ben überraschend wieder auf.
