The Little Mermaid, as adapted by Hans Christian Andersen, is a long tale with a complex plot which was first published in 1836. It tells the story of a young mermaid who ascends to the surface on her 15th birthday, as is the custom. She happens upon a ship in the throes of a storm, and saves the life of a prince who was about to drown. She falls in love with him, vows to find him again and to love him forever. There are, however, different rules and fates that separate mermaids from people, and the little mermaid undergoes many trials because of the choice she made.

Den danske præst, digter og forfatter Steen Steensen Blicher (1782-1848) var en af hovedkræfterne i den danske Guldalder, og han er kendt og elsket for sine digte, noveller og oversættelser. Niels Aage Barfoeds roman fortæller om Blichers liv og virke som både digter og præst, om hans komplicerede personlighed og politiske engagement. Og ikke mindst om hans ustabile helbred, der i høj grad var betinget af den modgang, han mødte fra samfundet og i sit ægteskab, hvor han i en lang periode var overbevist om, at hans kone var ham utro.

En vinternat i 1959 synker det nybyggede motorskib M/S Hans Hedtoft på sin jomfrurejse fra Grønland til Danmark. Skibet og dets 95 passagerer forsvinder sporløst i det iskolde hav ud for den grønlandske sydspids Kap Farvel, og man finder aldrig den tekniske grund til forliset. Henrik Andersens roman "Gensyn med Kap Farvel" er inspireret af den virkelige historie om skibskatastrofen, der efterfølgende blev kaldt "Danmarks Titanic". Romanen skildrer Hans Zacharias Martinsens liv i dets forskellige faser.
