In 1907, Colonel Percy Fawcett returns from an expedition into the unexplored regions of the Brazilian - Bolivian Borderlands with proof of the largest anaconda in history. Hoping to bring the monster back to civilization, Professor Neal Coldwell hires famed big-game-hunter Barrett Walker to lead him into the unknown and capture what the natives call the Mother of the Waters. Three centuries after the Orbem Novis colonists told off-Earth financiers who backed their voyage to stay away from their new home on a distant planet or face death, the Farside Corporation receives an unusual request. Two top-drawer agents are hired to locate the last descendants on Earth of the colonists’ leader and bring them to Orbem Novis.
