Ingersoll Lockwood (1841-1918) was a New York attorney, diplomat and lecturer who wrote children's books, satire, and poetry. 1900, Or: The Last President is a dystopian, alternative history book which was published in 1896 and ostensibly involves events of a few years later - the 1898 election that put William Jennings Bryan in power and led to civic unrest. As a work of political satire, the narrative deplores the rise of socialism and populism in its dystopian vision of the future.

Immersed in imaginative journeys, the Baron Trump stories showcase the eponymous character—a wealthy young boy residing in Trump Castle. While his official name is Wilhelm Heinrich Sebastian Von Troomp, he opts to be addressed by his title, Baron Trump, for simplicity. Venturing into time travel escapades across human history, the young Baron encounters ancient societies, engaging with their languages and social customs. Accompanied by his loyal and protective companion, Bulger the hound, Baron Trump navigates diverse adventures, overcoming numerous challenges.

Ingersoll Lockwood (1841-1918) was the ambassador to the German Empire appointed by Abraham Lincoln. As a writer, he is known today for his Baron Trump novels, described by some as prophetic because the narratives contain strange coincidences with the current US president.
