As long-buried memories from his hidden past begin to resurface, Ishmael Jones and his partner Penny feel compelled to return to the small country town where Ishmael crash-landed in 1963; the place where his memories began. Norton Hedley is no ordinary town. Apparitions, sudden disappearances, sightings of unusual beasts: For centuries, the place has been plagued by a series of inexplicable events. Joan Grant enlarges the picture by depicting the events that led up to the discovery of the baby Moses, convincingly portraying the man she believed was his father, Ramoses II, through the words of his reclusive half-brother Nebunefer.

Accompanied by a love interest, the couple slowly begin a descent into madness as they enter a surreal and horrific world created by strange and animalistic memories. As they venture further into the unusual world, the story begins to fragment, and strange and jarring events begin to unfold around them. Caught up in events well beyond their control, their only way out of this savage new world may be death itself.

Standing five stories tall in a relatively small city, the Howard Phillips building is like any other building: It is secretly inhabited by an entity from another plane of existence that feeds off the energy of the people who work within its walls. Unfortunately, the life-form inhabiting this particular building has been infected by a sort of virus of hate; as companies move out and its inhabitants dwindle, this alien intelligence has chosen to use fear as a means of obtaining sustenance. It is up to Jon, Marcy, and Bettie to stop this haunting presence before it’s too late.
