Anne Elliot, es la hija mediana de Sir Walter Elliot y la más sensata dentro de su familia. Lady Susan charms everyone she meets - particularly the men - and is keen on toying with emotions for her own amusement. The novel, told in letters between various characters, follows Lady Susan’s escapades and influences on her family, and the affects that her presences has on their individual trysts and ties to one another.

Sense and Sensibility fu il primo romanzo pubblicato nel 1811, in tre volumi, la cui autrice rimaneva anonima (By a Lady). Il romanzo ha per tema il contrasto tra la ragione di Elinor e l'emotività di Marianne, due sorelle,. Per una gran parte del romanzo la narrazione, che segue Elinor, prende chiaramente la difesa della razionalità e dell’assennatezza, ma questo poi diviene meno scontato e la srittrice si interroga sinceramente fra i due atteggiamenti nell’affrontare le delusioni della vita. Pertanto il libro è tuttora attuale, come lo è questo tipo di contrasto nella mente umana.

Romanzo, scritto nel 1815, dopo "Orgoglio e pregiudizio" e "Ragione e sentimento", è il primo romanzo in cui l'eroina è bella, ricca e senza impedimenti di sorta (tanto che la Austen disse che quell'eroina non sarebbe piaciuta a nessuno fuorché a lei); per cui non ha necessità di sposarsi per vivere, e pertanto decide di "non sposarsi mai".

Jane Austen fa un ritratto preciso di quelli che erano i modi di vivere, le relazioni, i desideri delle sorelle Bennet, cinque ragazze in età da marito...

"Lady Susan" es una novela de intrigas y enredos donde la trama se va develando a raíz del intercambio de cartas entre los diferentes personajes. La historia gira en torno a lady Susan Vernon, una hermosa e inteligente mujer, pero también manipuladora y egoísta. Sus planes no sólo incluyen un nuevo casamiento ventajoso para ella misma; sino que también pretende casar a su hija de dieciséis años con el adinerado Sir James, hombre al que la joven detesta.

Publicada póstumamente en 1818, presenta un cuadro de familia sumamente austeniano: un viudo pomposo que sólo lee el baronetario, una hija soltera llena de pretensiones, una hija casada hipocondríaca y caprichosa, una multitud ruidosa de parientes y vecinos que aparecen por todas partes… y, al fondo, en el último rincón, una heroína sensible, paciente y menospreciada.

Sense and Sensibility follows the three Dashwood sisters as they must move with their widowed mother from the estate on which they grew up, Norland Park. Because Norland is passed down to John, the product of Mr. Dashwood's first marriage, and his young son, the four Dashwood women need to look for a new home. They have the opportunity to rent a modest home, Barton Cottage, on the property of a distant relative, Sir John Middleton. There they experience love, romance, and heartbreak.

First published in 1813, Pride and Prejudice is the most polished of Jane Austen’s novels, with a humorous and upbeat mood. It was written at a time when the author’s narrative powers were fully developed and the story flows with an ease that conceals the skill of its construction. The plot line follows the sequence of a love relationship apprehended, misunderstood, and finally realized, which has since become a standard format of the romcom genre. However, Austen complicates the action by involving not one but four romantic relationships in the plot.

Emma Woodhouse has successfully played matchmaker for her friend and discovers that she has a taste for setting up romances for her friends. She gets to work meddling in her friends’ affair, convincing them to call off imminent engagements and relationships in favor of ones she creates. The matchmaking quickly gets out of Emma’s hands, and her actions and instructions begin harming the people she cares about.

Northanger Abbey was the first of Jane Austen's novels to be completed for publication, though she had previously made a start on Sense and Sensibility and Pride and Prejudice.

The story concerns the young and vivacious Emma Watson, one of six children of a widowed clergyman. Emma has spent most of her life under the care of a wealthy aunt of liberal views, and has received a good education. However, when her aunt enters into a second marriage, Emma is forced to return to the family home, where she is affronted by the crass hunting for husbands undertaken her sisters, Penelope and Margaret.

Love and Freindship [sic] is a juvenile story by Jane Austen, dated 1790, when Austen was 14 years old. Love and Freindship (the misspelling is one of many in the story) is clearly a parody of romantic novels Austen read as a child. This is clear even from the subtitle, "Deceived in Freindship and Betrayed in Love," which neatly undercuts the title. Written in epistolary form, it resembles a fairy tale as much as anything else, featuring wild coincidences and turns of fortune, but Austen is determined to lampoon the conventions of romantic stories.
