Pete Riley is a stay-at-home dad; his partner, Maddie, works in advertising. After Pete drops two-year-old Theo off at nursery one morning, he's politely accosted by a man who looks just like Theo. But when they meet, Anna's home life sounds distinctly strange to Susie and her husband Gabe. And when Anna's adoptive parents seem to overreact to the fact she contacted them at all, Susie becomes convinced that Anna needs her help. But is Anna's own behaviour simply what you'd expect from someone recovering from a traumatic childhood? Or are there other secrets at play here - secrets Susie has also been hiding for the last 15 years?

When Finn Hensen gets a call from his sister Jess to say their father has died, neither is heartbroken. Their parents divorced many years ago, after which their father, Jimmy, continued to live a bohemian lifestyle in sun-soaked Mallorca, while his family returned to the UK. Ownership of his home, a beautiful but dilapidated farmhouse in the mountains, now passes to Finn and his sister. The only problem is that Jimmy recently remarried for the third time, and his new wife is still living there. The pair agree that Finn should go to Mallorca and tactfully take possession of their inheritance.

Susie Jukes blir helt plötsligt kontaktad på sociala medier av Anna, flickan som hon gav upp för adoption för femton år sedan. Men när Susie och hennes man Gabe träffar Anna, får de en känsla av att allt inte står rätt till hemma hos flickan. Och när Annas adoptivföräldrar dessutom verkar överreagera på att hon överhuvudtaget kontaktade dem, blir Susie övertygad om att Anna behöver hennes hjälp.

Deres forældre blev skilt for mange år siden, hvorefter deres far, Jimmy, fortsatte sin boheme-livsstil på solrige Mallorca. Ejerskabet over hans smukke men forfaldne gård i bjergene overgår nu til Finn og hans søster. Problemet er bare, at Jimmy blev gift igen for nyligt, og hans nye kone, Ruensa, bor der stadig. De to bliver enige om, at Finn skal tage til Mallorca for taktfuldt at gøre krav på deres arv.
