  • get ready to feel inspired to both give back to your community and to follow your dreams!  meet brad and libby birky - the founders of the SAME Café in denver, colorado.  SAME opened in 2006 as a non-profit community café allowing its customers to pay what they can afford  for their meal, or volunteer their time in exchange for a meal.  food justice has been something that brad and libby have been passionate about for a long time, but the idea for SAME was born on a flight in 2003, and over the course of the next 3 years, brad and libby tweaked the idea, went to culinary school, and ultimately borrowed money from their retirement accounts to make this dream a reality.  SAME has served more than 200,000 meals to community members since 2006, and today in addition to the original space, they have expanded to a food truck and are also opening a new location in toledo, ohio.
