She has worked as a learning specialist and educational therapist in private practice for over a decade. While the emphasis of her work is on remediating learning disabilities in a one-on-one setting, she is also a sought after speaker and community advocate for children and families around learning rights. She works with children grades 1-12 and covers a wide range of learning difficulties including dyslexia, ADHD, and spectrum disorders. In 2020, Dr. Pirayesh launched The Difference is Not Deficit Project to help promote the importance of seeing learning disability as a social justice issue. In addition to her private practice and advocacy work, Dr. Pirayesh is also adjunct faculty at Pepperdine University and is involved with a number of service organizations including The Association of Educational Therapists. After a dog broke the chains of codependency... decades later, I obtained a degree in Canine Life Sciences: Emphasis on Service Dog Education. That degree took me around the world... from Fidel's Cuba to Thai orphans with HIV.... to a Korean biotech where I cloned my beloved dog, My Booster to the wonderous Bahamas and more. Together, we championed rights for the disabled and helped get service dog access legislation passed in foreign countries...and convinced airlines to fly service dogs. We participated in television and newspaper stories around the world. Author (My Booster) and Master's graduate Bergin University of Canine Studies (BUCS): emphasis on Service Dog education. As an International Service Dog advocate, I've travelled the world conducting television and newspaper interviews and conducting demonstrations. From Cuba to Thailand, to Korea and the Bahamas and more. Educating others, and helping get laws passed for the disabled partnered with Service Dogs is my passion in life. My Service Dog Booster saved my life. I promised him I'd share him with the world. I wake up every morning striving to fulfill my promise to my Booster who "boosted" my life and the lives of others around the world! When life's challenges almost overtook him, a dog named Booster sauntered into his life and changed it forever. Mr. Hawn subsequently earned a Master's Degree in Canine Life Sciences from Bergin University of Canine Studies. His dog Booster utilized his "M A S T E R' S" degree to change lives around the world.
