• Iraq, Libya, Syria. What Do They Have in Common? Not Sand
    May 16 2023

In my previous episode, I talked about how Canada has not felt like home to me for a couple of years.

Canada was the country my parents decided to refuge to for better opportunities and to flee from chaos and war. Canada was the country that made an effort to get my family and me from Lebanon during the 2006 Lebanon and Israel war. The government helped us for the first year to ensure we didn’t become homeless. 31 years after being on the face of this earth, Canada is one of the top countries that leads the world in immigration and accepting refugees.

But things are definitely not the same as it was back in the 1980s or 2006. Our government is helping bring newcomers to our country, but what about the people here in need? Our country is accepting people from all over the world that suffer from a lack of healthcare, education or hospitality. Yet, these 3 essentials are the topics that have made our country inferior to others.

In this episode of Do You Know What Blows My Foghorn, I will be discussing my opinion of what should be our nation’s priorities to better the lives of Canadians and newcomers that seek a better life. Canada should thrive in diversity and community, but is that what we truly see? Or is it more exclusion and separation?

  • Drugs, Booze. Oops, You Snooze, You Lose.
    Apr 18 2023

What a great time to be young!

Post-pandemic hormones are raging across the world and our young people want to have fun. Go to a party, have a few drinks, experiment with some drugs, and find someone to hook up with.

Damn, to be young and explore what the world has to offer. Is it all fun and games though?

That one party you go to and a friend tells you “Try this. You will love it!” 10 years later, you loved that drug and high so much you end up homeless and chasing that high.

How about serving your country as a military personnel, or serving your community as a police officer or first responder? Maybe you just got dealt the wrong cards in life and you went from using medications for coping to abusing drugs to forget the pain.

My friends if there is one thing that blows my foghorn it is not helping the people in need.

  • Hail The King! Um, We Talkin Burger King?
    Apr 4 2023

Now a podcast about the legendary Whopper would be amazing!

But unfortunately, this topic has less taste bud action than that. A modern world like ours is controlled by one person. Well, The Queen, may she rest in peace, was quite controlling of her loving so-called “alliances”. The torch has been passed to King Charles.

What does this mean for us here in Canada? I am no analytic political influencer, but I sure do have an opinion that needs to be spoken of!

  • Work Till You Die, But We Still Need You To Work!
    Mar 14 2023

I have a dream. These are words that when uttered, make people’s hair stand on the back of their necks and put their focus on what is coming next. Martin Luther King had a dream of a better world. A fair world that gives everyone an opportunity to be what they want as long as they work hard for it. He worked hard for the freedom of speech and Black people’s rights to be equal, but look what happened to a man who stood up to the system. Every individual on the face of this earth has the right to have a say in or work hard to live a good life. We have become a system of silent dictatorship. “You can do what you want, say what you want, as long as it is not this, this, that, this, these and especially those.” I was taught to work hard to earn the right of living a good life, but the more I work hard the more I am shown that I cannot keep up with the dream many have fought so hard for us to have.

In this episode of Do You Know What Blows My Foghorn, I use whatever freedom of speech I have to talk about modern slavery: us. When I say us I do not mean, brown, blacks, yellow, or beige. I mean us as a human race. Do you really think working hard is paying off?

  • Home, But Not Home
    Feb 14 2023

Nova Scotia is Home to over a million people. In recent years many have made Nova Scotia a new home for themselves and family. People from all over the world come to Canada and make a new home for themselves here. What a great complement it is to see the world viewing Canada as a great nation! And yes Canada has such potential to become a beautiful home for many. However, as new people come into Canada or Canadians move to different provinces it is becoming more apparent than ever that some Canadians feel like the country is drowning and can do so much better for us.

This episode of Do You Know What Blows My Foghorn will be a deep dive into how once upon a time Nova Scotia was my home, but the sense of home does not make sense anymore. I will be going through my thought process on how government priorities have changed my opinion of what are essential things for me to call a place home.

  • New Year's Resolution: Don't Be a Dick
    Jan 31 2023

The world is so focused on the physical appearance of people. 9/10 chances an individual is making a New Years Resolution that focuses on making them look better. Whether to eat better or go to the gym. Those 2 are very important and are a good way to blow off some steam to better your physical and secondarily your mental health. However, do you make it a primary New Years Resolution goal to focus on your mental well being? Do you put the effort into making sure your mental health and self awareness is taken care of and checked on, respectively? Are you even aware of the fact that your mental health is bad and you take it on others, which allows others to perceive you as a dick?

This episode of Do you Know What Blows My Foghorn will show viewers and listeners how I dive deep into everyday relevant issues. Also, this episode will have a great friend of mine who is a Councillor that will help me bring to light the importance of self awareness. Will we agree on certain conversations or clash? Well you better listen to find out!
