  • The Greatest Form of Gratitude - Homily 13th Nov 2024
    Nov 13 2024

What does it mean to truly be grateful to God for all that He has done? Our words of thanks carry no weight if our gratitude does not translate into real transformation of our hearts and our lives. We must not be entitled to think that all we have or achieve exists because of our strengths, but come to recognise that everything we have and hold comes from the goodness of God.

Let us pray against the spirit of entitlement and pride, and ask for the grace to truly cultivate a heart of genuine and deep gratitude for the goodness of God.

  • Transmitting the Gospel Effectively and Creatively - Homily 8th Nov 2024
    Nov 8 2024

n today’s world, it often feels like earthly pursuits have become the ultimate goal for many. Yet as Church, we are called to offer something greater—the promise of eternal life in Christ.

How do we share the Gospel in a culture that rarely contemplates eternal life? Perhaps the answer lies in engaging creatively with the technology available to us.

But more importantly, can we echo St. Paul’s bold words: “Be united in following my rule of life. Take as your models everybody who is already doing this and study them as you used to study us” (Philippians 3:17)?

Are we, as individuals and as a community, living in a way that inspires others, showing by example what it means to follow Christ?

  • People Truly Transformed - Homily 7th Nov 2024
    Nov 7 2024

"Repentance is a prerequisite to forgiveness, and forgiveness is a prerequisite to encountering God’s love." – Cardinal William Goh

We are reminded that we cannot achieve perfection by our own strength. The laws and teachings of Moses were given to guide us, yet no one can fulfil them perfectly. It is only by leaning on God’s boundless mercy and receiving His love that true transformation begins within us.

Have I reflected deeply on my own sinfulness and limitations? Do I recognise my need for God’s grace, or am I tempted to believe that salvation lies in my own efforts, my adherence to the Church's disciplines, and my striving for righteousness?

Let us remember that it is God who makes us whole, not by our merit, but through His mercy and love.
