• Monday, Your Work Week and Your Faith
    Mar 18 2024

When I work I am either contributing or adding to something that is in progress yet incomplete (bringing order to chaos) or I am identifying a void or a gap and am creating or contributing to something to fill that void (creating something out of nothing).

As we step into our workweek, let’s adopt this mindset: our work is a canvas, and we are the artists. Through our efforts we bring form to the formless and order to chaos. Let’s celebrate the opportunity to contribute, to make a difference, and to participate in the ongoing creation of our world.

As we face our work, let us embrace our role as creators. Let’s seek out the voids, the unmet needs, the unanswered questions, and respond with creativity and purpose. In doing so, we do more than work; we bring new realities into existence. We fill the world with our contributions and reflections of our imagination.

  • It's all Meaningless
    Mar 9 2024

Join me as I explore the intriguing biblical book of Ecclesiastes. The writer starts out with a motivational speech for the ages when they write "Everything is meaningless, utterly meaningless."

    Alright! Good night!

Seriously, this is probably my favourite book of the bible. It is raw, it is real, it does not shy away from life's tensions, questions, confusions and contradictions.

  • Where are you and why are you Here?
    Dec 8 2023

When God, or your therapist, asks you this question it is good to answer as truthfully as you can. As truthfully as we can because we don’t always have the full picture ourselves. That’s why the question is so important. It begins the process of drawing us out so that we can restore order to the chaos we have created or are running from. The question sets us on a path of healing, growth and reconnecting with the beauty we long for.

  • When God Whispers Your Name
    Nov 25 2023

On the morning of July 15th, 2023, things took a turn. Just as I had begun settling comfortably into my agnosticism and deconversion, something happened that left my mind spinning. I found myself suddenly inundated with thoughts of God. It didn't take long for me to realize that whatever had just happened was not of my own doing. I was not headed in that direction at all. I was done with all of that. Now, sitting in front of my campfire, my life was suddenly turned upside down or maybe it was right side up. I don't know. What I did know was that things would not be the same from that point on.

  • Intimacy - We want it, fear it, and hate it
    May 9 2023

In this series of episodes I venture into the subject of intimacy. More specifically the intimacy cultivated in the life of a couple, you and your partner. Intimacy - we want it, we fear it, and we hate it; so what do we do with it?

"We are either working to elevate beauty or we are exploiting it for our own success, pride and pleasure. Each couple is either on the road of creativity or on the road of exploitation." (Adapted from 'Intimate Allies' by Dan Allender)

  • Cross That Bridge When You Get There
    May 2 2023

Our past may rob us of our joy, hope and peace in the present moment but it does so as a thief in the night while our worry about tomorrow stares us right in the eyes and rips our joy, our hope, and our peace right out of our chest.

Our regrets about the past taunt us like a faraway echo while our worry about tomorrow is right up in our face …. both are enemies of the present moment.

The Buddha is presumed to have said that "all beings feel a deep sense of fear or anxiety, which stems from the fact that we resist the impermanence of our existence."

  • Making Peace With the Past
    Apr 25 2023

“I realize there’s something incredibly honest about trees in winter, how they’re experts at letting things go.” Jeffrey McDaniel

As I continue my little exploration of what it's like to live in the 3 tenses (Past, Present and Future), in this episode I invite us to consider the power our past can hold over us. Our past is a beautiful mess of good and bad and it has shaped who we are today. It has the ability to keep us chained to its stories and incapable of moving forward but it can also teach us and propel us into the future.

  • What about this present moment?
    Apr 18 2023

Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow does not exist.

All we have is today. We have now.

What do you do with the present? What do you do with now? Do you embrace it fully for what it is and what comes with it? Or is it lost because you are bound to your past or wasted because you are afraid of what comes next?
