• Prevention, not sickness to save the NHS.: Andrew Gwynne MP: @GwynneMP🌹 l Ep. #035
    Oct 25 2024

I have followed Andrew’s career for a number of years and have always been impressed with his handling of media questions, his ability to connect and make connections with people but even more importantly how he managed to get under Boris Johnson’s skin!

This interview was my chance to ask him the questions I always thought and his answers are way better than I could have imagined.

I was most struck by Andew’s drive and determination as a new minister and how he plans to make prevention the key first step to making our country well again and to save our NHS.

We can all be skeptical of politics and many of our politicians.

However this interview is a clear view of a good man, doing his best work to make a difference in the world. From the macro, by changing the law here and in the EU and US to save millions from crushing poverty in Africa. To the local, giving a constituent an opportunity to to receive life saving treatment on the NHS. This is what Labour values in action looks like.

  • Failed State : Sam Freedman: @Samfr l Ep. #034
    Oct 18 2024

Sam Freedman’s book Failed State is a detailed and fascinating view into the big problems currently within our governmental system. Sam worked alongside Michael Gove and Dominic Cummings within the Department of Education and saw first hand the issues our over centralised government has.

I read the book over the summer and so I wanted to ask Sam more about his analysis - not just a list of issues but also to catergorise and anaylise the significance and impact of each problem.

More importantly Sam explains to me so steps the new Labour government can take to improve how government functions.

  • The Co-operative Party: Joe Fortune: @FortuneJF 🌹 l Ep. #033
    Oct 11 2024

I was both excited and keen as mustard to do this interview with Joe Fortune.

When I was canvassing with Joe in Peterborough during the general election I asked him if he’d come on the show and share the story of the Co-op Party as well as a look at the important work of the Co-op movement.

Joe tells me how important the co-op movement is in the world right now as it has been the UK’s best export. Coops are running £1.5 globally, including half of US agriculture and two thirds of the German banking sector.

I learned so much from this interview and I want to thank Joe for taking time out of his busy day to record this interview with me.

  • Labour’s targeting was too Ruthless? :Ann Black & David Landon Cole :@AnnBlackLabour @dlandoncole 🌹 l Ep. #028
    Sep 13 2024
This is a very unique show as Ann Black from the NEC and Cllr David Landon Cole join me to reflect on the general election strategy of the Party. David wrote an article called Labour's targeting was too ruthless
and Ann found it and shared it widely. So I decided to get them on the show to chat through the arguments David made and to analysis the impact of decisions made by the central Party.

At the end of the show, Ann shares with me why she is standing once again in the NEW election and why she thinks we should vote for her.

It’s a fascinating episode, I apologise about some of the sound issues with Ann’s mic but it’s certainly a show rich with much to reflect on.
