Kimmy Rivet, a racer with 27 years of experience in both dirt and asphalt, shares her journey in motorsports. She started racing go-karts at a young age and eventually transitioned to sprint cars and modifieds.

She also talks about her participation in the Women in Motorsports North America AccelerateHer program and the importance of supporting women in the sport. Kimmy emphasizes the need for respect and recognition for women racers and the increasing opportunities for sponsorship. In this episode of Velocity Femme, I interview Drea Dalzell, the crew chief of Red Lobo Racing in the Moto America series. She is also the sister to their rider, Manny Segura. We discuss the challenges and experiences of being a woman in motorsports, the importance of representation, and the struggles of bootstrapping a small team. We also touch on the need for genuine partnerships, the gatekeeping in the motorsports community, and the significance of recognizing mid-pack racers.

Drea emphasizes the importance of hands-on experience and the multiple roles she takes on as part of the team and discusses the challenges and underappreciation faced by racers in Moto America. She also highlights the financial struggles of racers and the lack of recognition and promotion for the series. There is so much dedication and discipline required to compete at this level and the sacrifices made by racers and their families.
