Welcome to your Macros 101 class! This will be the first part in a series on Macronutrition. It's the basics, folks. I'm going back because that's what and where we need to go. We need to completely UNLEARN and then re-LEARN the whole bodily mechanics around nutrition because the old model we were all grown up on - ie. the Food Pyramid/Canada Food Guide - were just completely too simplified to the point that they actually are misleading and providing incorrect-INCOMPLETE-information. What's missing? Well for one the very definition of Macronutition and Micronutrition. So I'm going to go back the basics and set up the series as if I was teaching my 9 year old's Health class. Episode #1 focuses on basic definitions but also the holes in the good ol' Food Pyramid or what is known today as the MyPlate guide.
