  • The House Call by Swerve Strickland + "Name That Feud" with Chad Law | TSMS #22
    Sep 6 2024

Swerve wants to kill the Hangman About a year ago he really hung the Hangman Couple days ago Page turned the Page Burned down Swerve’s place & took a cigar to the face Now it’s lights out at All Out To keep the law out - Tony got smart from Brawl Out There will be blood that pours out And there will still be beef after the fallout 2024 has been the year of hate. Katt Williams hates Cedric the Entertainer and everybody else in comedy for that matter. Kendrick Lamar hates Drake + the way that Drake walks, talks and dresses. And Hangman Page hates Swerve Strickland enough to huff & puff & burn his newly repurchased childhood home to the ground. Wrestling fans, my name is AO Baker and this is The Signature Move Show. Let’s be clear, I don’t feel sorry for Swerve. We all remember when he broke into Hangman’s house and filmed himself standing over Page’s baby crib. He even admitted to sitting outside of Hangman’s house as recently as around the time of his 2nd child’s birth. I wouldn’t trust either of these guys to share a round of beers. But this feud is less about who I’m rooting for and more about the morbid curiosity of how violent this will eventually get. On Saturday, Swerve & Hangman will collide in an unsanctioned lights out steel cage match. That means AEW is holding zero responsibility. There will be blood. There will be weapons and ladders and chairs and tables and thumbtacks. Maybe a little bit of fire and barbed wire. Undoubtedly AEW’s most personal feud and it reminded me of some other extremely personal wrestling beefs. As a child, The Undertaker burned Kane’s face and killed their mother and his own father by setting the family funeral home on fire. At first he said it was an accident but eventually admitted to doing it on purpose because he thought Kane was weak. But even that history couldn’t keep the two of them apart. They ended up a tag team…last match was in Saudi Arabia in 2018 against Shawn Michaels & Triple H. Sorry for bringing that one up. Steve Austin and Brian Pillman were brothers in the Hollywood Blondes during their WCW days. By the time they made it to the WWF, they were both entirely different people. Steve used a steel chair to break Brian’s ankle and then he broke into his house only to find out that Pillman had one of those. Unfortunately, they never got to settle their differences 1-on-1 but would we have seen a Hollywood Blondes reunion in the WWF after the air was clear? The point here is this: how bad will it get before Swerve & Hangman are able to let each other be? And is there a world where we see the 2 of them on the same side in a few years? Before we get there though, we have to get through All Out. I highly doubt either one of them will tap out so that rules out any form of submission victory for either side. So this week’s signature move is the House Call. But what if Hangman hits Swerve with the House Call? It’d be an ironic but appropriate ending to this chapter. And what happens next? If Hangman loses again, will he accept his L or come back? Will Swerve be in any condition to restart his world championship journey? + Connect with me: https://madebyaobaker.com/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamaobaker IG: https://www.instagram.com/iamaobaker/ X: https://x.com/iamaobaker

  • The Powerbomb by Sid Vicious | Long Live Sycho Sid | TSMS #21
    Aug 28 2024

RIP SID “Vicious” to “Sycho”, “Justice” to rivals Ruler of the world, master of the powerbomb 6’9” - skyscraper in 8-9, fly Gave Hogan hell from the start Beat the Heartbreak Kid and the Hitman Hart 2-time Federation Champ Plus he stamped Attitude on the Era before the marketing plan 1-time for the big man Wrestling fans, my name is AO Baker. Welcome to The Signature Move. Unfortunately, this week’s episode finds us mourning the loss of the man known as Sid Vicious and Sid Justice. Perhaps best known as Sycho Sid. 2-time WWF Champion. 2-time WCW Champion. Member of the 4 Horsemen. Speaking of the Horsemen, quite possibly the reason that Arn Anderson carries that dot dot dot Kayfabe, brother. I was introduced to Sid back in 1992. Probably at a Blockbuster Video. WrestleMania 8 VHS on the shelf. One-half of a double main event saw the Macho Man Randy Savage challenge the Nature Boy Ric Flair for the world title. The other half saw a 6 foot 9, 300+ pound menace present a very serious threat to Hulkamania. Kicked out of the leg drop and only lost by DQ because of Harvey Whippleman’s interference. The next time I saw Sid was 3 years later. 1995. The bodyguard of Shawn Michaels. Sid’s unsuccessful interference cost Shawn his WrestleMania 11 world title match against Diesel. Obviously Sid’s a much better wrestler than bodyguard but nonetheless, on Raw the next night, Sid reacted to Shawn’s “orders” by lifting HBK over his head and driving him to the mat on 3 separate occasions. Took him out. And that’s why this episode’s signature move is the powerbomb. Quick fact: that move was invented by Lou Thesz in a match against Antonio Rocca. Thesz attempted a piledriver. Rocca fought it. So Thesz lifted him above his head and then, back-first to the mat. As for Sid’s powerbomb. There’s the World Championship Wrestling version where he would drop to both knees at the same time he’d drop his opponent. And of course, The Federation version. 3 of those powerbombs to HBK caused Diesel to make the save, reuniting 2 former friends turned bitter enemies. 1 powerbomb to HBK earned Sid his 1st world title and a powerbomb to Bret earned him his 2nd. Of course Sid had other moves in his arsenal like the chokeslam and the big boot. And that weird angle semi-roundhouse right punch. But the powerbomb put fear in the hearts of many in the World Wrestling Federation. That move, along with the maniacal laugh, wide and wild eyes and a voice that could go from a whisper to a roar several times within the same sentence made Sid one of the most memorable big men ever. So here’s to Sid. Master of the powerbomb. Ruler of the world. Heavyweight champion. Legend. And Signature Mover. + Connect with me: https://madebyaobaker.com/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamaobaker IG: https://www.instagram.com/iamaobaker/ X: https://x.com/iamaobaker

  • The Busaiku Knee by Bryan Danielson (feat. Scotland of Black Guy Wrestling Podcast) | TSMS #20
    Aug 21 2024

Swerve’s holding the title If Bryan’s gonna take it he’s gotta hit the Busaiku Might take 4 like swinging for the cycle If he does, crowd volume is high as my FICO If not, heartbreak like 808s & taikos Lights out like a Tyco hit a light pole House Call from a psycho And just like that, say goodbye to my GOAT 1. What move did Bryan Danielson, then known as Daniel Bryan, use to beat HHH at WrestleMania 30? 2. What move did Bryan use to beat Batista and Randy Orton to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? 3. Who is the LeBell Lock named after? 4. What does Busaiku mean? 5. Who did Bryan get the Busaiku Knee from? This episode’s signature move: The Busaiku Knee. At All Out, Bryan Danielson challenges Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship. Only the second time they’ve faced each other in a match. The 1st? Dynamite. October, 2023. Title Tuesday. Opening match. Winner earns a shot at then TNT Champion, Christian Cage. Hell of a match, too. Back & forth until Prince Nana threw his crown off and hopped on the ring apron to distract referee Aubrey Edwards. Swerve grabbed the crown off the apron. Hangman Page, out of nowhere, grabbed the crown from Swerve. Yada, yada, yada - and BOOM - Busaiku Knee off the skull of Swerve for the 1-2-3. At WrestleMania 30, Bryan used another move, The LeBell Lock, to win the WWE World Heavyweight title. A move lethal enough to tap Batista out 10 years ago but not strong enough to beat Swerve last year, when he reached the bottom rope and managed to compete for another 2 mins before taking the killshot, no pun intended. When Bryan goes for The LeBell Lock at All Out, I think the same thing happens. Not only because Swerve survived it once but because he’s only gotten stronger since then. On the other hand, in that first match, Bryan was strong enough to survive a House Call. And make no mistake about it, there will be a House Call attempt at All Out. But this Bryan is not that Bryan. This Bryan’s body is worn down. This Bryan has more concussions in the bank. And this Bryan is approaching the end of a full time wrestling career, if not the end of the road altogether. So, this Bryan’s formula is simple: avoid the House Call at all costs. Don’t be surprised when Swerve survives The LeBell Lock again, only this time with a smile on his face. Put the last ounce of power left into one last Busaiku Knee. And pray that it’s enough to keep Swerve down this time because if it isn’t, that will be the last Busaiku Knee that Bryan will ever attempt. + Connect with me: https://madebyaobaker.com/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamaobaker IG: https://www.instagram.com/iamaobaker/ X: https://x.com/iamaobaker

  • The Tsunami by Bronson Reed (feat. Gram of the Public Enemies Podcast) | The Signature Move Show #19
    Aug 12 2024

00:00 After 6 Tsunamis courtesy of Bronson Reed Seth Rollins needs oxygen he can’t breathe Need more tricks up your sleeve Visionary? Please. 300 pounds caught him on the sneak Ain’t see that coming? Splash Brother like Curry Left his guts bloody - The Visionary’s vision’s blurry Bron blacked out, packed The Architect up in front of a packed house Put your name up 00:30 Name that splash with Gram of @PublicEnemiesPodcast 02:28 Before we finish ‘em, we hit ‘em with the signature move. Wrestling fans, my name is AO Baker and this episode’s signature move is the Tsunami. The one-legged top rope splash that caused internal bleeding for The Architect, The Visionary, Seth “Freakin’” Rollins, courtesy of Bronson Reed. I don’t know about you but taking 6 splashes from a 300+ pounder looking to make a name for himself is not how I want to spend my Monday night. I have a feeling Seth Rollins respects it. After all, he’s used sneak attacks, back stabs and other underhanded tactics to make it to the top of the WWE. But with that being said, what if Big Bronson Reed is the guy that’s just too big for Seth Rollins to overcome? What if Bronson Reed just splashed his way into being recognized as a legitimate title threat? First, Seth Rollins, a former champion that’s held damn near every title there is to hold. But what about the current champions? Can Oba Femi survive a Tsunami? What about Ethan Page? LA Knight, Bron Breakker, Gunther, Cody Rhodes. Opinions may vary but if Bronson Reed is standing across the ring from anybody - or on the top rope hovering over anybody - my money just might be on the 17-year veteran from South Australia. Steph Curry just splashed his way to some first time gold. Bronson Reed might follow suit. Sooner rather than later. + Connect with me: https://madebyaobaker.com/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamaobaker IG: https://www.instagram.com/iamaobaker/ X: https://x.com/iamaobaker

  • The Sharpshooter by Bret "The Hitman" Hart | The Signature Move Podcast with AO Baker #18
    Jul 31 2024
Met Bret with the Hitman crown on TAIGASTYLE tee, Lee got the Pure crown on Bucket list, dapped palms with the best there is Ask Moms, I had the action figs Now if you wanna talk Sharpshooters, the best there ever will be Was when he beat Steve, made that man bleed Made him a made man at Mania 13 And Riki Choshu is the OG This episode’s signature move: The Sharpshooter. I had the chance to check something major off the ol’ bucket list the other day when I met Bret “the Hitman” Hart at The Wrestling Universe in Queens. Shook his hand. Told him that he was my favorite wrestler as a kid and the reason that I became a wrestling fan in the first place. Sidebar, I got that Hitman hat from Roots of Fight and as for the TAIGASTYLE tee, congrats to another technically sound individual, Mr. TAIGASTYLE himself, Lee Moriarty, for winning the Ring of Honor Pure Championship at Death Before Dishonor. Back to Bret. Let’s talk about The Sharpshooter. A move invented by the legendary Riki Choshu. He called it the Sasori Gatame, loosely translated from Japanese: The Scorpion Hold. Makes sense that when Sting started to use it in the late 80s, he called it The Scorpion Deathlock. Bret started using it a few years later when he left The Hart Foundation tag team to embark on a singles run. He needed a finisher. Pat Patterson brought up The Scorpion Deathlock as an option and Bret asked around for somebody to teach him how to do it. Wanna know who taught him? Konnan. Which makes sense to me because Konnan would go on to use another submission move that I always thought was dope: The Tequila Sunrise. Guy has some good taste. And Bret had some classics. He beat Mr. Perfect with the Sharpshooter to win his first Intercontinental title at SummerSlam ‘91. He used The Sharpshooter to beat Ric Flair and win his first World Title in ‘92. But without a doubt in my mind, The Sharpshooter that caused Stone Cold Steve Austin to pass out from the pain and lose the Submission Match at WrestleMania 13 in 1997 is the best there ever will be. Nowadays, you see The Sharpshooter all the time. Speedball Mike Bailey just used it to beat Mustafa Ali at Slammiversary to win the X-Division title. And Daniel Garcia’s version is called the Dragon Tamer. But in my opinion the best version was Bret’s version. So here’s to The Hitman and here’s to The Sharpshooter. + Connect with me: https://madebyaobaker.com/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamaobaker IG: https://www.instagram.com/iamaobaker/ X: https://x.com/iamaobaker

  • CM Punk interference is Damian Priest's best maneuver | The Signature Move Podcast with AO Baker #17
    Jul 15 2024

And still: Damian Priest Transitional title like a car with a lease? So say some. Punishment Mar disagrees. Comes to the ring, got the belt when he leaves. Keeps, by any means. Ask Drew Mac, But the South of Heaven ain’t the best move in his tool bag. ‘Cause when the ref stops watching, CM Punk’s his top option. Let’s get it poppin’ My name is AO Baker and this episode’s signature move: CM Punk. Yes, you heard that correctly: the man Phil Brooks is a maneuver. Doesn’t seem like Damian Priest has anything else that can beat Drew McIntyre. WrestleMania 40. Money in the Bank briefcase cashed in…AND NEW world heavyweight champ. But it wasn’t the South of Heaven that did the damage. It was CM Punk. Fast forward. Clash at the Castle. Drew hits the Claymore Kick but there’s no ref. Punk runs down in a ref shirt. Hits the Shane McMahon Special two-count-double-bird. Then a low blow. AND STILL world heavyweight champ….Damian Priest. Thanks to CM Punk Fast forward again. Money in the Bank. Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Priest defending against Seth Rollins. Drew cashes in his newly won briefcase and now we have a no-disqualification triple threat match. With Seth Rollins watching from outside the ring, Damian defeated Drew…after Phil Brooks, a steel chair and 15 pounds of gold put Drew down. AND STILL world heavyweight champ…Damian Priest. Thanks to CM Punk. On August 3rd, Damian Priest defends his title against Gunther. The longest reigning Intercontinental Champion ever. But more importantly, at least in this case, a man that CM Punk doesn’t have a problem with so there won’t be any CM Punk interference for Damian Priest to rely on. A lot of people have been calling Damian Priest a transitional champion. If he cares to silence those critics, he’ll have to beat Gunther on his own. No Judgement Day. No ref bumps. And no CM Punk. If he fails, his reign will soon be forgotten and the only person going “south of heaven” will be Damian Priest, himself. + Connect with me: https://madebyaobaker.com/ TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamaobaker IG: https://www.instagram.com/iamaobaker/ X: https://x.com/iamaobaker

  • How Zack Sabre Jr. Defended Orange Cassidy's Orange Punch | The Signature Move with AO Baker #16
    Jul 5 2024

Met Sabre Jr. on a Saturday Sunday he had a match vs Orange Cassidy Probably would've tapped Pockets out But he pulled one arm this way & the other arm thataway Pocket watching was the strategy Seen him throw the Orange Punch - Zack took that away Arm strength was done Forbidden Door match won - on to the G1 Connect with me: TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iamaobaker IG: https://www.instagram.com/iamaobaker/ X: https://x.com/iamaobaker Listen to the song Signature Move by AO Baker:https://madebyaobaker.com/no-flows-barred My name is AO Baker & this episode’s Signature Move: The Orange Punch. Orange Cassidy's version of a Superman Punch. The move that led to a majority of his 157 wins and 2 International Championship reigns in AEW. That’s also the move that gave Zack Sabre Jr. the blueprint on how to defeat Orange Cassidy at this year’s Forbidden Door. The idea is simple, we’ve seen this before. Pick a part of the body, wear it down during the match and when the time is right, go in for the kill AKA, “hit your finisher, brother.” Bret Hart had the Sharpshooter so he worked the leg. So did Ric Flair to set the Figure Four up. Sabre Jr. is even more dangerous because he doesn't really have a “finisher.” Yes, there are moves that he uses often like the Zack Driver, the European Clutch, the Octopus Hold. But more often than not, he just makes some shit up on the fly. Pure improv. So you never really see what’s coming until it’s too late. So, the Forbidden Door match. Zack takes Cassidy’s right arm. Palm down, elbow up and stomps on it. He went after the fingers, the wrist, the forearm, the shoulder. The perfect defense to neutralize the best offensive weapon in Orange Cassidy’s arsenal. Yeah he hit the Orange Punch but that didn’t even knock Zack off his feet. They went back & forth. The crowd chanted “this is wrestling,” you know, because they were into the match. In the end, ZSJ picked up the W by way of verbal submission because Orange didn’t have a free hand, or foot, to tap out to this move that has no name. And while it might not be a signature move for Sabre Jr., it was a signature win for the man from The Isle of Sheppey.
