How to Get Your Business Featured in the Media: PR Strategy with Christina Daves If PR isn’t part of your business strategy yet, it should be. In this episode of The Seed podcast, I had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Christina Daves, an award-winning PR expert and entrepreneur, to dive deep into the power of public relations, visibility, and media exposure. Christina didn’t start out as a PR pro—she built her expertise out of necessity. When she launched a brand-new product in a category that didn’t exist, she had no marketing budget and no idea how to get the word out. But instead of giving up, she taught herself how to pitch the media and landed over 50 media features in her first year, including spots on FOX, The Washington Post, and even the Steve Harvey Show. Now, she’s sharing her PR strategy secrets with us. Why PR is Non-Negotiable for Business Growth No matter what industry you’re in—whether you run a service-based business, product brand, or nonprofit—visibility matters. Public relations isn’t just about big media outlets; it’s about strategically positioning yourself as an expert, so people recognize and trust your brand. Key Takeaways from Our Conversation: ✔️ PR is for everyone. Whether you’re a solopreneur or a growing business, PR helps you build credibility and attract opportunities. ✔️ Your pitch is your power. If you’re not capturing attention with your first sentence, your message is getting lost. ✔️ Relationships and persistence are key. Media exposure doesn’t happen overnight. Consistently pitching, following up, and building relationships with journalists is how you get noticed. How to Start Getting Media Attention Today Christina shared actionable tips that you can start using right now to land PR opportunities: 📌 Find your hook – What makes your story unique? Tie your pitch to trending topics or industry news to make it relevant. 📌 Start local – Regional publications and news stations love to feature small business owners with compelling stories. 📌 Be persistent – Christina pitched for five months before landing her first major TV segment. PR is a long game, but it pays off. 📌 Don’t be afraid to follow up – Journalists receive thousands of pitches daily. A polite follow-up can move yours to the top of the list. Listen to the Full Episode If you’re ready to stop waiting for opportunities and start creating them, this episode is a must-listen. • Ep.74- Transforming Q1 Wins into Q2 Success for Women Entrepreneurs
    Feb 26 2025
Pivot Playbook – Transforming Q1 Lessons into Q2 Success Introduction As the first quarter wraps up, every entrepreneur faces a pivotal moment: how do we harness our wins and learn from our “oh crap” moments to build a more powerful Q2? In today’s post, inspired by the latest episode of The Seed by Dandelion, Inc., we’ll explore the “Pivot Playbook”—a roadmap designed to help women in business pivot, refine, and propel their ventures forward. Whether your business is product-based, service-driven, or rooted in brick-and-mortar operations, the strategies outlined here are your blueprint for sustainable success. Reflecting on Q1: The Wins, the Woes, and the Lessons Before diving into new strategies, it’s crucial to take stock of where you are: Celebrate Your Wins: Did you launch a product that took off? Or maybe you nailed consistent marketing that sparked engagement? Jot these down. Even small victories are building blocks for bigger achievements. Acknowledge the Struggles: Maybe you experienced a marketing misfire, or your campaigns didn’t yield the expected ROI. Write down these challenges too. Remember, every “oops” is an opportunity to learn. Extract Key Lessons: Reflect on what worked, what flopped, and what each experience taught you about your business. This honest introspection is the first step to a strategic pivot. This reflective process ensures that your Q2 strategy isn’t just about catching up—it’s about playing smart and making power moves based on real data and insights. Trends Shaping Q2 and Beyond The business landscape is evolving rapidly, and staying on top means embracing change. Here are some of the major trends shaping the conversation for Q2: Authenticity Over Perfection:Today’s consumers are tired of glossy sales pitches. They crave authentic stories, behind-the-scenes moments, and real human connection. Integrate genuine content into your marketing strategy to build trust and engagement. Community-Driven Marketing:Instead of passively waiting for your audience to find you, get proactive. Engage directly—slide into DMs, spark conversations, and build a community around your brand. Reciprocity is key; as you invest in relationships, your network becomes a vital asset. Collaboration Over Competition:Strategic partnerships can amplify your reach. Collaborate with like-minded businesses and influencers who share your values. Do your due diligence to ensure that any collaboration aligns with your mission and audience. Smart Ad Spending and Testing:Avoid the trap of throwing money at ads without a clear strategy. Instead, rigorously test and refine your campaigns. Make sure your tracking tools (like Facebook pixels) are correctly set up so you’re targeting the right audience. Shift in Buyer Behavior:Modern consumers are discerning. They’re looking for clear solutions, not just products or services. Emphasize the benefits and value that your offerings provide. Whether through subscription models or flexible payment plans, make it easy for your audience to say “yes.” Embracing Automation and AI:Efficiency is paramount. From scheduling tools like Calendly to AI-driven customer service and lead nurturing, automation can free up your time to focus on growth. Implement systems that streamline repetitive tasks, so you can concentrate on strategic initiatives. The Power Moves for Q2 As you gear up for Q2, consider these actionable power moves: Review and Refine:Analyze your Q1 metrics to identify where your best leads and conversions came from. Double down on these successful strategies while trimming out what isn’t working. Set Realistic Goals:Instead of overwhelming yourself with a long list of objectives, pick three to five core goals for the upcoming quarter. Break these down into actionable steps, ensuring every goal is backed by a clear plan. Automate for Consistency:Whether it’s setting up automated email workf...

  • Ep.73- Smart Money Moves
    Feb 19 2025
Smart Money Moves: How Women Can Leverage Finances for Business Success If there’s one thing I’ve learned in business, it’s that mindset around money can make or break your success. And in my latest episode of The Seed podcast, I sat down with Erica Hill, a money reset coach, to talk about all the financial truths most of us never learned—but absolutely need to know. Spoiler alert: Women are better investors than men (yep, there’s data to back it up), yet so many of us hesitate to take control of our financial future. Whether it’s fear of debt, money blocks from childhood, or simply not knowing where to start, Erica breaks down how to shift your mindset and leverage business credit to scale without going broke. The Money Lies We Grew Up Believing Raise your hand if you’ve ever heard one of these growing up:❌ "Money doesn’t grow on trees!"❌ "Rich people are greedy."❌ "Debt is bad—stay away!" Erica and I unpacked just how deeply these messages shape how we handle money as adults. For many of us—especially women—we weren’t encouraged to take risks, invest, or think beyond “saving” money. But here’s the truth: Money is a tool. And when used wisely, it can work for you—not against you. The Right Way to Use Business Credit (Without Going into Debt) One of the biggest takeaways from this episode? Smart entrepreneurs don’t bootstrap their businesses with personal savings—they use OTHER PEOPLE’S MONEY. Erica walked through the difference between good debt and bad debt, explaining how business credit (especially 0% interest credit cards) can be a game-changer—when used strategically. ✔ Bad debt = Buying things that don’t bring in money (random office upgrades, personal splurges, etc.).✔ Good debt = Leveraging funds to grow your business (hiring, marketing, inventory, etc.). She also pointed out some surprising reasons people get rejected for business credit—things like using a Gmail address for business or having a home address instead of a professional one. Small details that can make or break your approval! Why Women Need to Step Into Their Financial Power One of the most eye-opening parts of our convo? Women ARE great with money. A Charles Schwab report even found that women make better investors than men! So why do fewer women invest? 🔹 Fear of risk (What if I lose money?)🔹 A lack of financial education (Where do I even start?)🔹 Generational money blocks (My family never talked about this…) But here’s the thing: Successful businesses don’t happen by playing small. Women deserve to build wealth, scale businesses, and make bold financial decisions—and the first step is rewriting the stories we tell ourselves about money. The Power of Community in Business & Finance Talking about money openly is STILL taboo for many women. That’s why having a strong community is key. If you’re trying to grow a business but feel stuck in financial confusion, this is your reminder that you don’t have to figure it out alone. Surround yourself with other ambitious women who are learning, growing, and pushing through the same struggles. That’s exactly why I built Dandelion-Inc.—to create a space where women in business can get real, honest, and practical advice on everything from mindset to money. Listen & Take Action If you’ve been hesitant about business credit or feel like your money mindset needs a reset, this episode is a must-listen. Erica Hill drops major wisdom, and I guarantee you’ll walk away with a new perspective.
