  • The Road to Tokyo – Ep #12 – Marianna Tolo – Why winning Olympic basketball medals are so difficult!
    Sep 16 2021

I recently had a fantastic chat with Opals basketballer, Marianna Tolo about her overall experience at Tokyo 2020 and what made it extra special.

We also spoke about the excitement of Marianna playing basketball in France and her breakout game for the Opals where she scored 26 points and pulled in 17 rebounds against Puerto Rico.

Marianna discussed the difference in Tokyo vs the Rio Olympics, why it was so special for the Boomers to win their first ever Olympics medal, some of her funny team mates, the pranksters of the group and how the girls dealt with the Olympics being postponed for twelve months.

Marianna is also an ambassador for the Kids Alive do the Five Water Safety Program and we really appreciate Trina from Ignite for arranging the chat and of course Marianna for her time.

Thanks to the team from PodBooth for a great job of filming and editing the video and thanks also to our partners Anytime Fitness and Renelec Electrical Services.

  • The Road to Tokyo - Ep #11 - Alex Porter - Bouncing back to win bronze at Tokyo 2020!
    Sep 5 2021

I’ve conducted lots of incredible interviews in the past few years and this one well and truly kept me on the edge of my seat.

Alex Porter is a fantastic bloke and his determination and positive attitude is incredible especially considering his dream of winning gold at Tokyo 2020 came crashing down literally.

Alex's handlebars inexcusably collapsed during the 4000 metre team pursuit cycling race.

We spoke about the incident and Alex described the feeling afterwards and injuries that occurred which could’ve been a heck of a lot worse considering he was travelling at 65km/h.

Alex and I also discussed the feeling of joy when he found out that he was going to compete at his first Olympics and what it was like inside the village, his Olympic experience growing up as a kid, funny team mates and how they dealt with the Tokyo Olympics being postponed for twelve months.

Thanks so much to Alex for his time and for being so open and honest with his side of the story with what happened at Tokyo, to Rory Noke from Podbooth for a great job of filming and editing the video and to our partners @Renelec Electrical Services and Anytime Fitness Glenelg for their ongoing support.

  • The Road to Tokyo - Ep #9 - Chris Anstey - The Boomers creating history at Tokyo 2020!
    Aug 16 2021

It was an honour to speak with former Boomer and two-time Olympian Chris Anstey about why it was so special for the Boomers to win their first ever men's basketball medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games!

I asked him whether Patty Mills is our greatest ever Boomer, what it was like for Chris to represent his country at the Olympics and why it meant so much to him.

We also discussed what the Aussies need to do and take the next step with winning a gold medal at the Olympics, three famous people Chris would love to have dinner with and Chris had a surprising answer to who he felt was one of the funniest people in basketball that he's met.

Chris has written a wonderful book called 'Tall Tales' and you can purchase the book by going to https://www.chrisanstey.com.au/424-2/

Thanks so much to Chris for his time and to Rory Noke for a great job of editing and filming the video.

Finally thanks to our great partners, Renelec Electrical Services and Anytime Fitness.
