    I am so excited to share today’s guest, PA Tara Cross. Tara currently works as an orthopedic PA but also runs her own business teaching wilderness medicine of all levels. From teaching lay people basic first aid and CPR to running advanced life support courses for PAs and paramedics, Tara loves to share her knowledge of wilderness medicine and safety.

    In today’s episode, Tara tells us what to do if we encounter an emergency outside the walls of our hospital or clinic. She details what we should have on hand to be prepared for an emergency, whether we’re hiking the backcountry or at our kid’s soccer game. Tara discusses the basics everyone should know and how to adjust our mindset from waiting for CT or ultrasound results to using the limited resources we have on hand to triage the situation and stabilize the patient.

That’s initially how today’s guest, Dane Thomas, felt when he was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult 10 years into his PA career.

    But Dane didn’t let his ADHD diagnosis be a detriment to his PA practice or his personal life. Dane embraced what he initially perceived to be a weakness in order to develop his diagnosis into a strength.
