Welcome back to The Light Podcast! I'm Marlene Wilber, the founder of the Light Bible Study Ministry. Our ministry is dedicated to equipping students to lead Bible studies at school, encouraging them to discover the Bible as a supernatural resource for growing and maturing in their relationship with Jesus, rather than just another book on the shelf.

In this episode, we continue our journey into understanding the Bible by diving deeper into the importance of Bible study. I'll share my personal story of how I truly learned to study Scripture as an adult, and the profound impact it had on my life. 4. Go Slow: Focus on the quality of your study, allowing Scripture to deeply resonate in your heart.

  • The Bible Has One Central Character
    Aug 11 2024
    • Welcome back to The Light Podcast! I'm Marley Mele Bah, founder of The Light Bible Study Ministry. We’re here to encourage and equip students to lead Bible studies at school, whether during lunch or before classes begin.
    • Our goal is to help the next generation see the Bible not as just another history book, but as a supernatural resource that fosters spiritual growth and a deep relationship with Jesus.

Segment 1: A Call to Action

    • Last episode, we explored Judges 2:10, which speaks of a generation that grew up not knowing the Lord or His works. Reflecting on the fact that 75% of Gen Z only open their Bibles once a month, it’s clear that we need to make a change. It’s time to bring the Bible back into daily life.
    • Just as success in any area of life requires dedication and understanding, so does our relationship with Scripture. Without a solid foundation, it’s hard to grasp the wisdom and knowledge within the Bible.

Segment 2: The Bible’s Structure and Unity

    • The Bible is a unified work, consisting of 66 books written by around 40 different authors over 1,500 years. Despite its diversity, the Bible has one central theme and one author—God Himself.
    • Romans 15:4 reminds us that everything written in Scripture was meant to teach us and provide hope.

    Segment 3: The Two Testaments

    • The Bible is divided into two main parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament tells the story of a nation, while the New Testament tells the story of a man—Jesus Christ.
    • Jesus is the central character of the Bible. The Old Testament predicts His coming, and the New Testament describes His life and works, which brought salvation to the world.

Segment 4: Jesus: The Central Character

    • Jesus is more than a historical figure—He is God in the flesh. His coming was the most significant event in history, giving us a clear picture of who God is.
    • John 1:1-3 teaches us that Jesus was with God from the beginning, and through Him, all things were made. He is central to the entire story of the Bible, not just the New Testament.

Segment 5: The Fulfillment of Prophecies

    • Jesus’ life and work fulfill the promises made in the Old Testament, starting from Genesis. He is the mediator between God and humanity, taking on our sins so we wouldn’t have to face eternal separation from God.
    • The Old Testament’s instances of salvation and mediation all point to Jesus, showing how the Bible’s message is consistent and unified across its many books.

Segment 6: Growing in Relationship with Jesus

    • Studying the Bible doesn’t have to be overwhelming. It’s a daily journey that deepens our relationship with Jesus, helping us learn His character and hear His voice of truth.
    • The more we engage with Scripture, the stronger our faith and relationship with Jesus will become.

  • "Raising a Generation Rooted in God's Word"
    Aug 11 2024

    Introduction:

    • Does studying the Bible seem overwhelming? Not sure where to start or how to approach it at all? You’re not alone—I’ve been there too. But two years ago, everything changed for me.
    • Welcome to The Light Podcast. I’m Marlene Jabbar, the founder of The Light Ministry, where we empower students to lead Bible studies in schools. This episode is all about understanding the importance of Bible study, especially for the younger generation.

Segment 1: The Heart of the Ministry

    • At The Light, our mission is to inspire students to love and cherish God’s Word, guiding them to find their true identity in Christ.
    • The Bible isn’t just a history book—it’s a living, supernatural resource that strengthens our relationship with Jesus.
    • Reflecting on Judges 2:10, we’re reminded of the importance of passing down our faith to the next generation, so they don’t grow up without knowing God or His mighty works.

    Segment 2: A Troubling Trend

    • Research shows that 75% of U.S. teenagers read the Bible less than once a month, and 46% of Christian teens never read it at all.
    • This alarming trend mirrors the generational cycles in Israel’s history, where a whole generation grew up not knowing God. Are we at risk of repeating the same mistakes?

Segment 3: Why the Bible Matters

    • The Bible answers life’s biggest questions: What’s the purpose of life? How can I find true success? How do I navigate life’s challenges?
    • It’s practical, timeless, and without error. But most importantly, it’s God’s Word to us, offering wisdom, guidance, and a path to victory in life.

Segment 4: The Challenges of Today’s Youth

    • Today’s students face jam-packed schedules and constant distractions, making it hard to find time for Bible study.
    • Many young people don’t know how to study or apply Scripture because it hasn’t been modeled for them. Even in church, Bibles are often replaced by digital devices, leading to a decline in deep, intentional study.

Segment 5: The Call to Action

    • The Light Ministry offers a solution: student-led Bible studies during lunch or before school. These small group sessions provide support, accountability, and a deeper understanding of Scripture.
    • We’ve seen firsthand the hunger for Jesus among today’s youth and the incredible transformation that happens when they engage with God’s Word.

Segment 6: Partnering with Parents and Students

    • Let’s work together to raise a generation who knows God deeply and walks confidently in their faith. A generation that isn’t crippled by anxiety, but empowered by the Holy Spirit to make a difference in the world.
